In Memory

Rick Kirby (Kirby)

Angelo Zarvas wrote to notify classmates of the unexpected death of Rick Kirby.  Angelo said it well, "May his memory be eternal!."   The child of Rick who wrote about their dad sad:  "My dad, Richard Steven Kirby, also known as daddy dearest, Rick, Ricky, Mr. Purdue and other lovingly spoken nicknames, passed away, unexpectedly on October 27, 2024l  The child further wrote:  "  I have been absolutely devastated and brokenhearted.  There was more, but I was unable to open the text.  An obituary link would be helpful.  If you knew Rick, please leave your respects and thoughts on our website.  Back in school, Rick was involved in IM Bowling, IM Basketball and Baseball.  The times of our youth linger in our minds, bonding us, bringing us to smile for the memory of who we were and why we reflect so lovingly.

this is the rest of the post

My dad, Richard Steven Kirby, also known as daddy dearest, Rick, Ricky, Mr. Purdue, and other lovingly spoken nicknames, passed away unexpectedly on October 27.

I have been absolutely devastated and brokenhearted. He was an amazing human being, dad, grandfather, friend, brother, etc.

He worked so hard all of his life and had just turned in his retirement notice. He was looking forward to spending so much time with family and traveling with friends.

I am completely overwhelmed with the amount of amazing friends he has in St. Pete Beach where he was living. The outpouring of love I received while I was there was just incredible and astounding. I hope they all know how much it truly means to me and help to bring a little peace to my heart.

He will be greatly missed. When we are reunited again one day, we will make good on all of the plans we had recently made. I know my brother, Ryan Kirby, was there to meet him and that gives me comfort.

I will carry you in my heart, Dad - every single day until we meet again. I love you beyond measure.

Signing off with his well known words - said to just about anyone and anything, “ whoa whoa whoa.”💔

I remember Rick- who was usually called Kirby like they said.  I didn't know him well, but through intramural basketball and bowling and mutual friends.  We ran in similar circles somehow.  A bright, intelligent guy who made good grades and was always friendly and personable.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
