In Memory

Su Ours

Su Ours

This is a particularly difficult death to inform fellow classmates.  Last fall I received a few messages from Su, asking where and when our reunion would be.  I knew this would have been a first for Su.  I let her know that we didn't have a venue yet, but planned to by early spring of 2022.  I was sure she knew how to look on our website for the upcoming details and I encouraged her to register to our class website, which she did in October 2021.  Today, 9/15/22 I mentioned to Gary Richardson about hearing from Su, and then no followup communications this year.  He sadly informed me that Su had died just last week.  If anyone could add more about Su, please do so.  We all hope that her life was well lived and know that her bigger than life personality, as we knew her, will be missed.  We'll cherish her memory.

I’m so sorry to hear this.  Su was one of the bright spots in High School for me.  And her voice was amazing and beautiful.  Interacting with her every day in choir or during rehearsals for music programs was always so much fun.  Peace to her family during this hard time.  -Sherry McVay McGuire

It appears that Su was battling cancer. I found this information on a "Go Fund Me" page for Su.

I am so very sorry and sad to hear of her passing. When I think about all the fun we had in the music department at LC, Su was a big part. She had a beautiful talent and happily shared it with us all. Thoughts and prayers for her family and all who loved her.

I'm so sad to hear about Su. She was such fun in Bel Cantos. And we had such fun in the musicals. I remember her as Tevye's daughter with the babushka on her head in Fiddler on the Roof. She could sing so beautifully and her personality was bigger than life. She was so memorable and I hope she lived a big joyous life. May our prayers be with her and her family

As mentioned above, Sue had indicated her interest in attending the reunion and I was so looking forward to touching base with her.    She was a great talent, and she was involved in more than eight of the city’s amateur and professional theater groups.    Su’s impact on local theater was so prominent that even a year after she decided to “play Hazel” and move in with her sister’s family in West Lafayette, Ohio there was a newspaper feature article dedicated entirely to Su’s acting credits titled “Popular performer Su Ours is enjoying life’s changes”  [Indianapolis News – Friday January 5th 1996 – page E-12].   There is a wonderful picture of her on that story with that beaming ear-to-ear smile.  She was missed by many then and will be missed even more by those of us now.
