In Memory

Laura McLaren

I remember Laura throughout high school, especially.  She was right there amongst us through school and any after school functions and/or parties.  She used to come out to our home in Oaklandon at our annual party in the woods.  Those are fun times to remember.  My parents always liked to have functions at the house so as not to worry about me and to enjoy meeting the many friends they met.  Laura later attended our class reunions.  I'm not sure what year she died, but I don't think I saw her at the 30th reunion. I believe she was at all the others.  If anyone knows more, please post a comment. This is especially tough when a classmate was a close friend.  I believe I heard that she sadly died of the breast cancer, a sad loss.  She is never forgotten, always remembered sweetly.  2002 may or may not be correct, but believed to be within the timeframe.

Laura was a dear friend throughout high school and attended reunions up through 25 years. In high school she came to my home for gatherings at our family woods. Those are fun memories!   She was full of life, spirit and such great fun to be with.  I'm afraid that she died of breast cancer and many of us were unaware.   I hope that this web site and the facebook page that Wendell Lowe started for LC 1972 classmates keeps us in touch so that we can be a good friend throughout life.  I'll post a picture in Laura's  memory shortly.  God bless and keep you, Laura.

Laura was one of the major lights in my life.  She and I came together late in our senior year and became close very quickly.  She would write me all the time while I was in basic training and of course, I'd write her back.  When I got out of tech school I came back to Indianapolis to be with her.  I'd visit her in Purdue and spent Christmas with her in Cleveland.  We drifted apart as she relocated to Ohio State and I went to Thailand for 2 years.  I felt blessed to have had known her as well as I did.  She was beautiful and moved with grace in everything she did.
